Richard Dale Michaels, 86, of New Castle, passed away the morning of May 28, 2021 at Rhodes Place. Born August 24, 1934 in Liberty Township, Seneca County, Ohio, he was the son of Earl and Alma Viola (Flagg) Michaels. He was preceded in death on December 4, 2020 by his beloved wife of 62 years, Ethel L. (Taylor) Michaels whom he married June 28, 1958. Mr. Michaels served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict from 1953-1956. Richard was employed as a machinist with W.R. Grace until his retirement. Among his varied interests, Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing and photography. He was passionate about woodcarving and was a member of the First United Presbyterian woodcarving group. He is survived by two sons, Douglas E. (Christine) Michaels of New Castle and Richard J. (April) Michaels of Indianapolis, Indiana; one sister, Alverna (William) Tracht of Huron, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Douglas R. (Melinda) Michaels of Pittsburgh, Cody R. Michaels of Boise, Idaho and Tyler Michaels of Indianapolis, Indiana. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Cliff Ash, John Ash and Rocky Michaels; and two sisters, Bertha Ash and Earleen Halstead. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Burial will be in Savannah Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the R.
