Richard Jeffery Wilson, 55, of New Castle, succumbed to melanoma after a valiant struggle on November 7, 2012 at 11:15 p.m. He passed at home surrounded by the comfort and love of his family. Jeff was born on November 6, 1957 to Richard Wilson and Mary Lou Mellott. He was greatly esteemed by friends, family, and coworkers. He will certainly be missed. He worked for Asplundh Tree and First Energy. Jeff played high school football for Laurel and his nickname was ""Too Tall"". He helped coach midget football in the 80's. He had a great heart. One could not find a better man or big brother. He enjoyed taking his friend's kids hunting or shopping. He loved hunting and being with his Labrador retrievers General Lee and King. Jeff was an all around sportsman. At the age of 14, he shot his first big buck while hunting with his grandfather, Herbert Wilson. He was a member of the Coachmen Club, and helped organize their first yearly gun raffle. He taught hunter safety for 15 years and was active in Youth Field Day. Jeff loved the mountains, and owned a hunting camp in McKean County, Pennsylvania. We would like to thank his lifelong friends for their visitation and support at his bedside. They were true Christians. Jeff is survived by his mother, Mary Lou and brothers, Greg and Jim. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard and an infant brother. Jeff was dearly loved by his family and friends. He exuded a quiet resolve. He was more religious than he showed. We look forward to seeing his smile at the end of each of our journeys. Dennis Bupp will officiate.
