Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Robert Eugene Brown on December 5, 2023. He was the son of Harold Eugene and Mae Irene (Kerr) Brown.

Bob married Dorothy Anne Irvine on April 25, 1970, marking the beginning of a dedicated partnership that spanned over five decades. Together, they raised two children, Amy (James) Hilton and Lance (Laura) Brown. Bob was affectionately known as Boppy by his four cherished grandchildren Riley, Quinn, and Tierney Hilton, and Kelvin Brown.

A product of Shenango High School's Class of 1965, Bob continued his education at Clarion University, graduating in 1969 with a degree in mathematics. His passion for education and shaping young minds led him to a fulfilling career at Neshannock School District, where he taught from 1969 until his retirement in 1999. Beyond the classroom, Bob's enthusiasm for sports shone through as he was Neshannock's head tennis coach compiling nearly 300 wins and the assistant cross-country coach with well over 100 victories. During his offseason he took pride in running the scoreboard for football as well as boys' and girls' basketball.

In retirement, Bob embraced life with gusto. His days were filled with rounds of golf, gambling, and the combination of gambling while golfing. He kept his golf game sharp by wintering with his wife in South Carolina each year. Also, Bob was never one to shy away from new challenges, he experimented with various recipes in the kitchen.

Bob is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, sister Nancy (Don) Borger, and brothers Richard Brown (Youngstown, OH) and Martin (Ginger) Brown (Aiken, SC). He will be missed by many beloved nieces and nephews.

Donations may be made to the American Red Cross, an organization close to Bob's heart, where he regularly donated blood.
