Robert Donald Taylor, age 83, of Hickory Township, passed away unexpectedly the afternoon of April 14, 2018 at his residence. Born October 10, 1934 in New Castle, PA, he was the son of Ernest S. and Mary Wilson Taylor. He was preceded in death on February 22, 2004 by his beloved wife, Mary Anne Thompson Taylor. Bob was a 1952 graduate of New Castle High School. He was a plumber with the Plumbers Local #47 until his retirement. Among his many interests, Bob enjoyed gardening and was an avid hunter and fisherman. A former member of Faith Country Chapel, he recently attended First Baptist Church. He is survived by two sons, Jeff R. (Susan) Taylor and Jay L. Taylor of New Castle; a son-in-law, Donald Strobel of New Castle; 4 grandchildren, Daniel, Bryan, Keonna and Shania Taylor; and 1 great-granddaughter, Sophia. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jill Ann Strobel and one brother, Ralph Taylor. Visitation will be held from 6:00-9:00 pm on Wednesday and 10:00-11:00 Thursday with a funeral service immediately following at 11:00 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. The Rev. John Yergan of First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Rich Hill Cemetery.
