Robert W. "Red" Ellis, 83, of New Castle, passed away the morning of December 8, 2010 in Jameson Care Center.Born January 10, 1927 in New Castle, he was a son of William and Mary Burke Ellis. He married Delores O'Neill on August 12, 1950. Robert served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He retired from Bell Telephone where he was employed as a splicer.Among his many interests were golfing and bowling. He was also an avid sports fan and loved spending time with his grandchildren.Robert was a member of St. Camillus Church.In addition to his wife, he is survived by; one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Doug Bleggi of New Castle; one son, Robert T. Ellis of San Diego, CA; and three grandchildren, Caitlyn, Mark and Jaclyn Bleggi.He is preceded in death by his parents.Visitation will be held on Friday, December 10, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A procession will leave the funeral home Saturday morning, December 11, 2010, at 10:00 for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Camillus at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Father Thomas Lewandowski will officiate. Burial will be in Castle View Gardens.
