Robert Andrew Fisher, age 88, of New Castle, passed away the morning of Feb. 21, 2024, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Born Aug. 24, 1935, in Robinson Township, PA, he was the son of the late John Richard and Virginia Belle (Wilkins) Fisher.
On June 25, 1960, he married his beloved wife of 63 years, Gwendolyn 'Gwenne' C. (Cataline) Fisher. She survives at home.
Mr. Fisher was a graduate of New Castle High School. He went on to further his education, earning his bachelor's degree, from Youngstown State University. He proudly served his country, in the United States Army, during the Korean War, serving as a Master Sergent. His career was expansive, as he was a Manufacturing Executive, employed by Youngstown Welding and Engineering Company, President and CEO of CRF Fiberglass Corporation, and an Executive at Universal Rundle. Robert enjoyed 26 years of retirement and the time that he spent with his family especially, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by one daughter, Lesli S. Newman of New Castle, PA; son, Craig R. (Debbie) Fisher, of Boardman, OH; one brother John R. Fisher of New Castle, PA; two nephews, John R. Fisher IV of Pittsburgh, PA, and Bryan E. Fisher of Longwood, FL; seven grandchildren, Lindsey M. Fisher-Hunt (Matt) of Antioch, TN, Robert J. G. Fisher (fiancé Bri Caldwell) of New Castle, PA, Hunter A. Newman of Baltimore, MD, Payton L. Newman of New Castle, PA, Ashlee Baer (Zach Jones) of Poland, OH, Kristin Frazzini (Paul) of Boardman, OH, Jordan Sapp (Michaela) of Dublin, OH; and eight great-grandchildren, Wyatt G. Fisher, Mila G. Butch, Gavin Jones, Eli Jones, Peyton Frazzini, Kohen Frazzini, Shepard Sapp and Nico Sapp.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Elizabeth A. Fisher, and two grandsons, Jonathan Sapp and Derek Lett.
Visitation will be held Sat. Feb. 24th from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation, at 4:00 PM, at the funeral home, with Rev. Dr. Jordan Rimmer, of Northminster Church, officiating. Military rites will be performed by the New Castle Honor Guard.
Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.
