Robert "Bob" H. Fleming, age 90, of New Castle, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Christmas Day.
Born on June 18, 1929, in New Castle, he was the son to the late Richard E. and Naomi (Shrum) Fleming.
On January 27, 1950, Bob married his beloved wife, Irene (Dean) Fleming. She survives at home.
Bob was a graduate of Harlansburg School. He enlisted in the Unites States Marines, serving in WWII and the Korean Conflict. He sold farm equipment and worked for Doebler's seed. Bob was on the Laurel School Board and the Lawrence County Fair Board. He enjoyed gardening and singing southern gospel music. He was a member of the Church of Genesis where he served as an elder, a Sunday school teacher, and was very involved with the Neighborhood Food Pantry.
Along with his wife, Irene, Bob is survived by one daughter, Susan (Harry) Werner of New Castle; two sons, Richard (Jody) Fleming of Indianapolis, IN., David (Kim) Fleming of Plattsburgh, NY; 9 grandchildren, Mary Smith, Rebekah Veon, Abby Mahosky, Elizabeth Sommer, Todd Fleming, James Fleming, Amanda Ferry, Zane Fleming and Naomi Fleming, and 17 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by infant daughter, Bobbi Sue.
Visitation will be held on Sat. Dec. 28 from 11:00 am – 1:00pm at Church of Genesis, 303 N. Cedar St. New Castle, Pa. 16102. A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation at 1:00 pm, with the Pastor Ron Eade officiating.
Burial will be at Unity Baptist Church Cemetery.
