Robert Hilton, 91, of New Castle, passed away the evening of February 5, 2012 at his home.Born August 17, 1920 in Wampum, he was a son of James and Alice Knight Hilton. He married Ida M. Rashid on November 11, 1947. She preceded him in death on November 27, 2007.He served as a Private in the U.S. Army during WWII.Bob was employed by United Engineering and Mesta Machine where he later retired.He had the ability to repair anything and enjoyed being able to help his friends and family whenever needed.He was a member of Third Presbyterian Church where he served as a past deacon.He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and George Pilner of New Castle; a son, Robert C. Hilton of New Castle; three grandchildren, Robert and Amy Hilton, Elliott Hilton and Ian Pilner; and three great-grandchildren, Brady Hilton, Connor Hilton and Maura Hilton.In addition to his parents and his wife, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Jim, John and Edward Hilton and three sisters, Hanna Kepler, Esther Duncan and Carrie Elmore.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, from 5:00-6:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Michael Spicuzza will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
