Robert S. Hites, Sr., age 81 of New Castle, passed away the early morning of Jan. 29, 2020 at UPMC Jameson Hospital. Born June 17, 1938, in New Castle, he was the son of the late Howard and Alice (LeLenko) McDonald. On April 25, 1959, he married his wife of 60 years, Rose Mary (Offredo) Hites. She survives at home. Robert was a graduate of New Castle High School. He worked for the Pepsi-Cola Company as a salesman for 16 years and then went on to work at Stroehman Bakery, until his retirement. Robert loved hunting, fishing, riding his ATV, gardening and shooting. What gave him the most joy in life, was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Robert attended the First Church of The Nazarene. In addition to his wife, Rose Mary, Robert is survived by one daughter, Kimberly R. Hites of Slippery Rock, two sons, Robert S. (Lori) Hites, Jr., and John F. (Lisa) Hites, both of New Castle; one brother Donald McDonald of Ft. Meyers, FL; four grandsons, Joshua (Dr. Shelby) Hites, Robert Hites, Ryan Hites, Jonathan Hites; and two great-grandsons, Hunter and Maverick Hites. Along with his parents, Robert was preceded in death by one brother, Bill McDonald. In keeping with Roberts wishes, there will be no visiting hours or services.
