Robert Dickson Hughes, 78, of Euclid, Ohio, passed away March 8, 2014 at Euclid General Hospital.Born November 22, 1935 in New Castle, he was a son of Daniel E. Hughes and Jennie E. Dickson Hughes. His father preceded him in death and his mother Jennie resides in Vero Beach, Florida.After receiving his B.E.E. from Fenn College, he served in the US Naval Reserves from 1953-1961. Robert was an industrial electrical engineer with McKee Engineering Company and previously, Weirton Steel.He was a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers.In addition to his mother, he is survived by one daughter, Martha White Laks of Tucson, AZ; one son, Mark White of Lombard, ILL; one brother, Daniel E. Hughes, Jr. of Vero Beach, FL; one sister, Ruth C. McNeish of New Wilmington; and grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his father and his wife, Violet Hughes.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.A service will take place immediately following visitation Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at 2:00 and will be officiated by Rev. John Yergan.Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
