Robert P. McCann, 91, formerly of W. Meyer Avenue, New Castle, passed away the afternoon of February 16, 2014 at Shenango Presbyterian SeniorCare in New Wilmington. Born September 10, 1922 in New Castle, Bob was affectionately known to family and friends as "Buddy". He was a son of James W. and Sarah Jane Jones McCann. He was preceded in death on November 20, 2002 by his wife of 56 years, Kathryn "Kay" Davis McCann, whom he married October 8, 1946. Bob was a 1941 graduate of New Castle High School. He then served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1942-1945 with the 99th Infantry Division. He was a long time manager of the meat department of Axes Market in New Castle. Bob was a faithful member of First Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon, member of the Mission Board and the Triple M Sunday school class. He is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Sherry (Bruce) Keagy of New Castle, and Judy (Ronald) Scheib of North Miami Beach, FL; one sister, Betty Nelson of New Castle; three grandsons, Ryan Keagy, Matthew Keagy, and Corey McCaskey Kramer; and one great-grandson, Carson Kramer. In addition to his parents and his wife Kay, he was preceded in death by 5 sisters, Mary Adams, Madeline Marrazzo, Geraldine Owrey, Margie McCann, and Charlotte Dout; and 6 brothers, George, Thomas, Jack, Jesse, Dan, and James McCann. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, February 20, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home and will be officiated by Rev. John Yergan. Burial will be in Castle View Gardens.
