Obituary

Robert H. Morris, 97, of New Castle, passed away the morning of December 18, 2012 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Born December 10, 1915, in New Castle, he was a son of David S. and Edith F. McConnell Morris. He is survived by his loving wife, Dora Jane Eagal Morris, whom he married on June 27, 1940. He was a graduate of New Castle High School in January, 1935. Bob retired as a machinist after employment with Youngstown Engineering and Foundry, Mesta Machine Co. and Fessler's Steel. He was a champion horseshoe pitcher and a member of the Horseshoe Club in New Castle. Among his many interests were gardening, beekeeping and writing poetry. Bob was a member of First Baptist Church where he belonged to the 3M Sunday school class.In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Jayne E. Beech and her husband Raymond and Susann K. Leonard, all of New Castle; four grandchildren, Heather (Brian) Wolfe, Kenneth Beech, Scott (Heather) Leonard and Curtis Leonard; and three great-grandchildren, Riley, Joseph and Daniel. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Leonard R. Morris, David E. ""Abe"" Morris and Wendell Morris; two sisters, Wilma E. Livermore and Martha L. Morris; and a son-in-law, Larry Leonard. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2012, from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral will be take place immediately following visitation on Thursday, December 20, 2012, at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. John Yergan will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 984 W. Maitland Lane, New Castle, PA 16105.
