Robert Bryan "Bob" Newton, 71, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of October 17, 2019 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital.
Born June 18, 1948 in Ellwood City, PA, he was the son of Robert M. and Patricia R. (Minner) Newton.
Bob was a Shenango High School graduate and attended Edinboro University. He served his country in the US Navy from 1968-1972 where he served on the USS White Plains and later was active with the National Guard. Bob was a member of the Alpha Phi Omega (APO) Fraternity.
He was employed as a mail carrier for 35 years until his retirement. A nature enthusiast, he was a plein air artist, often selling many of his outdoor paintings. He also enjoyed playing Xbox and golfing with his twin brother.
He is survived by two daughters, Heather (Matthew) Early of Ellwood City and Tracy (Daniel) Evanoski of New Castle; one son, Robert J. Newton of New Castle; a twin brother, Richard J. Newton, and brothers Bruce W. Newton and Scott E. Newton; 6 grandchildren, Ashley, Brianna, Daniel, Leighann, Christopher and Benjamin; and a great-grandson, Alexander.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Karen L. Newton.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 21, from 5:00-8:00pm at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A funeral service will take place on Tuesday at 11:00am at Highland Presbyterian Church, 708 Highland Avenue, New Castle with the Rev. Richard Kinney officiating. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military rites.
