Robert Charles Richards, 92, passed away February 10, 2015 in Augusta, Georgia. Born July 28, 1922 in New Castle, son of Peter Scott Richards and Ruth Shirley Gustafson Richards, and step-son of Emma Gibbons Richards. Surviving in Georgia is his wife of 67 years, Frances Morgan Richards. Mr. Richards received his Industrial Engineering Degree in 1948 from Georgia Tech and was an industrial engineer with American Bridge Division of U.S. Steel. A veteran of World War II, he retired as a Colonel from the U.S. Army Reserves. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Donna Kauffman of Evans, GA, Susan Richards of Pittsburgh, PA, Barbara Farrow of Ambridge, PA and Scott Richards of Dickinson, TX; 7 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, and sister, Anna Grace. A funeral service will take place on Friday, February 27, at 1:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. Pastor Daniel Aluise of Oak Hill CMA will be officiating. Military rites will be performed by the New Castle Area Honor Guard. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in New Castle.
