Robert J. Stillwagon Sr., 91 of 941 Marshall Ave, New Castle, passed away the morning of February 11, 2012 at Jameson Care Center.Robert was born on September 9, 1920 in New Castle to the late James N. and Marie E. Kehna Stillwagon. He graduated from New Castle High School in 1939, and served in the Army in World War II. Robert served for 33 month in Italy, landing at Anzio Beach Head were he would later receive 5 battle stars. Upon returning from his service in World War II, Robert worked for Shenango China in New Castle for 28 years as a mold maker and also worked as a Chief Juvenile Probation Officer for Lawrence County from 1967 to 2000. He was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church were he was a member of the Session, a past elder, Sunday school teacher and served as a youth group leader.Robert is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara A. and James Emery of New Castle; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald E. and Gayle Stillwagon of New Castle; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Stillwagon also of New Castle; one sister, Helen Robinson of New Castle; 11 grandchildren; Tommy, Randy and Marisa Stillwagon, Susan and John Grinnen, Krista and William Harvey, James and Tiffany Emery, Paul and Theresa Emery, Laurie, Gary, Robert and Jenn Emery; ss well as 12 great grandchildren; Bradley, Saylee, Alex, Rydar Grinnen, Kasaundra Harvey, Braden, Isabella, Brooklynn Stillwagon and Austin, Courtney, Ava, and Laney Emery.Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anna; one son, Robert J. Stillwagon Jr.; and a brother in-law, James A. Robinson.Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 14, 2012, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. Wilmington Road, New Castle.Funeral services for Robert will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc.
