Robert W. Trusel, age 92, of New Wilmington, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, the evening of Oct. 8, 2024, at his residence.
Born March 11, 1932, in New Castle, he was the son of the late Harry and Elsie Trusel.
In 2002, he married his loving wife, Frances Shelby Trusel (Burkett). She survives at home.
Bob was a graduate of Princeton High School. For several years he farmed in Princeton, on Trusel Rd, raising dairy cattle. He then went on to work at Columbia Gas, for 38 years, until his retirement. Bob was a handyman who could fix everything. He was a hardworking, self-taught mechanical and electrical engineer mastering his craft through diligence and persistence. Bob will always be remembered as an avid Steeler's fan but most importantly as a man who was selfless and always supported his family. Bob was a long-time member of Oak Grove Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived his stepchildren, Robin Burkett of New Wilmington PA, Albert Russell Burkett, Jr., of New Castle, PA, Marlene (Ed) Lutz of New Castle, PA, Shirley (Larry) Jacobs of Jackson Knolls, PA; a sister, Elsie Kerr; niece, Linda Knight and nephews Mark and Scott Kerr; along with several grandchildren, great grandchildren and additional nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, brother, James Trusel, sister Mary Trusel, stepson, James Burkett, and two stepdaughters, Lisa Burkett-Murphy and Connie Burkett-Watters.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be at Oak Park Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Ave., New Castle, where online condolences may be offered to the family by visiting www.cunninghamfh.com.
