Ronald A. Baker, 81, of 212 McCaslin Road, New Castle, passed away the morning of February 8, 2013 at his residence. Born July 5, 1931, in New Castle, he was a son of Miles and Catherine Kennedy Baker. He is survived by his wife, Grace Drespling Baker, whom he married on February 26, 1983. He attended Shenango High School and was employed with Rockwell International as a truck driver. He retired in 1988 after 37 years of service. Ron enjoyed sports and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He was a softball coach and played in the Rockwell bowling league. He also enjoyed spending many hours on the Apache Pier in Myrtle Beach, where his retirement home was. He enjoyed spending time with his family when they would visit him at the beach. Ron was a member of Bethel United Brethren Church where he served as an elder, deacon and Sunday school superintendent. He also served on the executive board for Family 1st Federal Credit Union. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Rhonda Baker Hauser and husband Christian Hauser of New Castle; three sons, Gary Baker of Seattle, WA, Donald Baker of New Castle, and David Baker of Erie; one sister, Marilyn McMillen and her husband Roger of Dubois, PA; five grandchildren, Heather Micco, Chelsea Baker, Todd Baker, Katlyn Flannery and Matthew Flannery; two great-grandchildren, John Thomas Micco and Allie Micco; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Baker and a brother William Baker. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 10, 2013, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA. A funeral service will immediately follow visitation Sunday, February 10, 2013, at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
