Ronald Lewis Shaw, age 83, of New Castle, passed away the late afternoon of Nov. 21, 2024, at UPMC Jameson Hospital, surrounded by his family.
Born June 17, 1941, in New Castle, he was the son of the late Paul Lewis and Alice Margaret (Kelso) Shaw.
On May 29, 1964, he married his beloved wife of 60 years, Carroll Jean (Dix) Shaw. She survives.
Ron was a graduate of Union High School. He went on to earn his undergraduate degree from Slippery Rock University and then obtain his master's degree from Youngstown State University. For 36 years, Ron was employed by Neshannock School District working as an elementary physical education teacher. He had a long fulfilling career that he took pride in.
For 52 years he was a PIAA Official for youth basketball and baseball. He was a lifelong member of Northminster Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and elder. Above all his accomplishments, what Ron treasured most in life, was the time he was able to spend with is family, especially his grandchildren, Madeline (James), Rachel, Cameron, Caleb, Sydney and Logan.
In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by his sons, Ronald Paul (Melissa) Shaw of Doylestown, PA, and Robert Kory (Julie) Shaw of Wilmington, NC; one daughter, Marcie Lynne (Richard) McConnell of New Castle, PA; one brother, Leroy James (Patricia) Shaw of Sugar Creek, OH; and six grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Ron was preceded in death by two brothers, Francis Paul Shaw and infant brother, Thomas Shaw.
Visitation will be held on Tues. Nov. 26th from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM and on Wed. Nov. 27th from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A funeral service will take place at the funeral home, on Wed. immediately following visitation at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Jordan Rimmer, officiating.
Burial will be at Oak Park Cemetery.
