Rosalie L. Pitzer, age 92, of New Castle, passed away peacefully the evening of Feb. 22, 2022, at Avalon Place. Born May 29, 1929, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the Jesse Vernon Umstead and Lillie Bell (Stoops) Umstead Wyman. She was married to Donald C. Pitzer who preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 1997. A graduate of Eastbrook High School, Rosalie was employed with Kimmel Products in Volant, and Airway Luggage until she gained employment with the US Postal Service as a rural mail carrier. Among her many interests, she enjoyed crocheting, scrapbooking, ceramic painting and a variety of crafts in addition to traveling. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church where she attended Sparklers. Survivors include her two daughters, Laura Ross of Dayton, Ohio, and Dr. Cindy (Dr. Robert S.) Weiss of Norton, Ohio; one son, Donald P. (Diann L. Latess) Pitzer of New Castle; two brothers, Russell Umstead and Dale Umstead; seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Rosalie was preceded in death by one son, Clinton V. Pitzer and three siblings, Willard Umstead, Hazel Stoops Aiken and Edith Hilke Pence. Burial will be in Castleview Memorial Gardens, alongside her husband and son. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 3, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral service will immediately follow visitation at 2:00 with Dr. Robert S. Weiss, her son-in-law, officiating.
