Rose I. Bowers, 98, formerly of Brigadoon Lane, New Castle passed away the afternoon of June 8, 2016 at Liberty Health Care Center in Youngstown, Ohio. Born July 3, 1917 in Farrell, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of John and Katherine "Katy" Drapola O'Shany. She was preceded in death on March 16, 2007 by her husband of 72 years, Harry N. Bowers, Sr., whom she married on September 14, 1934. She was a homemaker, lovingly caring for her children and maintaining a steady home for her family. Rose enjoyed gardening, but most important was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family would like to thank the kind people from Hospice of the Valley for their care in her final days and Windsor House at Liberty Health Care Center for their compassion over the last several years. Rose is survived by three sons, Harry N. (Lily) Bowers, Jr. of New Castle, Gary T. (Elizabeth Ann) Bowers of Youngstown, and Randy Bowers of Girard, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Lou Bowers; two brothers Delbert and Max O'Shany; and two sisters, Veronica Barger and Marian Smisek. A prayer service was held Friday at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, with Rev. John Yergan officiating. Interment was in Oak Park Cemetery.
