Rose N. Boyd, 87, of New Castle, passed away on May 21, 2015. Born July 7, 1927 in New Castle, she was a daughter of Carmen A. and Jennie Venditto Navarra. She was preceded in death in December, 1999 by her husband, Russell C. Boyd. A 1945 graduate of Union High School, Rose pursued nursing at St. Francis School of Nursing, then became a 1975 graduate of Youngstown State University. Rose retired in 1989 from Lawrence County Vo-Tech after 22 years as the school nurse. Prior, she was a nurse at both Jameson Memorial Hospital for 7 years, and American Cyanamid for 7 years. She was a member of Challenges and was a sewing aid at Jameson Hospital. A member of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church, she often attended Primetimers. Surviving are her two daughters and a son-in-law, Janice B. Minor of South Euclid, Ohio, and Jackie (Emmett) Boyd-Garbett of Pittsburgh, PA; 4 grandchildren, Laura Minor, John Minor, Olivia Garbett, and Michael Garbett; and one great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Rose Stapleton. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael A. and Constantine "Tinney" Navarra; and a son-in-law, Scott Minor. Rose was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend to so many. She will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 30, from 11:00-12:00 at Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church, 220 Clen-Moore Blvd., New Castle, PA. A memorial service will take place immediately following visitation at 12:00 noon at the church, with Rev. Dr. Velis Vais officiating.
