Rose Hanna, 91, of New Castle, passed away the morning of May 28, 2019 at Rhodes Place.
Born March 27, 1928 in New Castle, she was the daughter of Slamon and Magida Hama Abraham. She was preceded in death on April 1, 2014 by her husband, George P. Hanna, whom she married on November 1, 1953.
Rose was employed as a secretary at Ohio State University prior to her retirement and remained an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes.
In addition to her many interests, in earlier years she loved golfing and swimming and will always be remembered as being a wonderful cook.
Rose was a member of St. Elias Orthodox Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Laurice Dailey and Nancy Long, both of Pittsburgh; two sons, Sam Hanna of Columbus, Ohio and George Hanna of San Diego, California; one sister, Joanne Passias of Columbus, Ohio; 5 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, and in addition to her twin sister Sally Abraham, she was also preceded by 4 sisters, June Carl, Ilona Prystasz, Edna Mae Abraham and Nancy Lee Abraham.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 1:00-3:00 and 4:00-6:00 p.m. at St. Elias Orthodox Church, 915 Lynn Street, New Castle, with a service held immediately after visitation at 6:00. The Very Rev. Kevin Gregory Long will officiate.
Rose will be laid to rest beside her husband in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
