Roy S. Stalker Jr., 89, of New Castle, passed away at the morning of December 30, 2015 at the Jameson Care Center.
Born August 31, 1926 in Butler County, he was the son of the late Roy S. Stalker, Sr. and Freda Kinch Stalker. Surviving at home is his wife of 66 years, Harriet A. Galbreath Stalker, whom he married on November 24, 1949.
Roy was a graduate of Butler High School. He went on to further his education with Slippery Rock University, California Teachers College, and The University of Pittsburgh. He served his country as a member of the US Navy during WWII.
Roy was employed as an Industrial Arts teacher at the New Castle High School for over 30 years.
As a member of First Presbyterian Church for over 66 years, many pieces of his woodworking creativity are evident throughout the church. Roy enjoyed serving as an Elder, Sunday school teacher, and choir member. He also spent time volunteering with Meals on Wheels.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Prudy (Dan) Rupp of Chardon, OH; three sons, Jeff (Celine) Stalker of Wexford, PA, Brian (Sharon) Stalker of Hershey, PA, and Duane (Sue) Stalker of Greentree, PA; and 7 grandchildren.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Althea Cussey; and one brother, Detmer Stalker.
Visitation will be Saturday from 3-6 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 2429 Wilmington Road and on Sunday from 3-4 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 125 N. Jefferson Street.
A Memorial Service will immediately follow visitation at 4 pm Sunday at the church with Rev. Nathan Louden officiating.
