Ruby June Steese, age 81, of New Castle, passed away the morning of June 5th, 2022, at Vincentian Home, in Pittsburgh, PA. Born Jan. 24, 1941, in Bluejay, WV, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Orpha (Basham) Crews. On Oct. 22, 1965, she married her husband of 28 years, Clark F. Steese. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1994. Ruby was a 1960 graduate of New Castle High School. She spent her life as a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her family. She enjoyed cooking, camping, traveling, and reading, especially the Bible. Ruby had a fantastic green thumb and loved taking care of her plants. What gave her the most joy in life, was spending time with her beloved grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Sharron (Ronald) Poloka of New Castle, PA, Ruby (Hugh) Stephenson of Mars, PA; two brothers, Ronald Crews and Donald Crews, both of New Castle, PA; three sisters, Linda Brua of Volant, PA, Carol Pinkston of St. Petersburg, FL, Janet Lafferty of New Castle, PA; seven grandchildren, John Janowski, Jacob Janowski, Katey McVay, April Boariu, Holly Poloka, Johnathan Poloka, Emily Wilson; and three great grandchildren, Greyson Boariu, Reagan Boariu, and Juniper Wilson. In addition to her parents and husband, Ruby was preceded in death by stepson Bruce Steese, grandson, Christopher Poloka and five brothers, Paul, Henry, John David, Milton, and James. Visitation will be held on Wed. June 8th from 5:00 PM– 7:30 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A service will follow immediately at 7:30 PM, with Rev. Matthew Bupp officiating. Burial will be at Oak Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to the New Castle Public Library at 207 E. North St., New Castle, PA 16101.
