Russell Clair Houk, Sr., 80, of Hamilton Street, New Castle, passed away the morning of May 7, 2016 at UPMC Jameson.
Born March 29, 1936 in New Castle, he was a son of Harry L. and Grace I. Prior Houk.
He was preceded in death on January 16, 2012 by his wife, Bertha J. Schofield Houk.
A graduate of Princeton High School, Russell served his country as a Private First Class in the U.S. Army.
He was employed as a truck driver with Castle Builders Supply in New Castle until his retirement.
Russell is survived by two daughters, Michelle Hurley and her fiancée Sam Moore, and Sherri Lynn Reisker all of New Castle; one son, Russell C. Houk, Jr. of New Castle; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Beverly Harlan and Mary Ruth Bower.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will take place on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.
The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct full military rites.
