Russell "Ed" Wimer, 88, passed away peacefully in his home on November 20, 2016 surrounded by his family. Born on July 18, 1928 in Slippery Rock Twp., he was a son of the late Guy and Rebecca Stoner Wimer. He was an owner/operator truck driver for 45 years. After retiring he and his wife enjoyed spending the winter months in St. Cloud, FL. He was a member of the Mason's Masonic 32nd Degree Lodge of the Craft for 55 years. He also enjoyed fellowship at Portersville Presbyterian Church. Ed will always be remembered as a hard worker and always kept busy. He enjoyed gardening, wood working and keeping his lawn in immaculate shape. He leaves behinds to cherish his memory, his wife of 50 years, Mary Jane (Kristophel), whom he married on August 18, 1966. In addition to his wife, Ed is survived by his children, Beverly (Bob) Bradford, Russell (Joyce) Wimer, Samantha (Spencer) Moon, Michael (Cheryl) Bauder, Sue (John) Hornig; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Lilah. He was preceded in death by his parents: two brothers, Loyal and Gaylord; and two sisters, Jean Nye and Bessie Wagner. Honoring his wishes there will no visitation hours. A memorial service will be held at the Presbyterian Church of Portersville, 1297 Perry Highway, Portersville at 1:00 PM on Saturday with Rev. Dana L. Opp officiating.
