Russell R. Young, 57, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of March 8, 2020 surrounded by his family at his home. Born January 9, 1963 in Ellwood City, he was the son of Charles R. Young and Janet R. (Johnson) Moore. Also surviving at home is wife of 23 years, Pauline (Shontz) Young, whom he married May 25, 1996. A 1981 graduate of Lawrence County Vo-Tech, Russell was employed as a machinist and fabricator with Excel Machine Shop. Among his many interests, he enjoyed camping, old car restoration, riding his motorcycle and most importantly, spending time with his grandchildren. He attended Harmony Baptist Church. In addition to his wife and his mother, he is survived by one daughter, Kim Bryan of New Castle; one son, Jack (Stacy) Alwardt of New Castle; one sister, Amy Lynn Young (Tim Gilliland) of Youngstown, Ohio; and 5 grandchildren, Ali, Karsten, Larissa, Delilah and Zoey. He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Julie Ann Young. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 11, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and Thursday, March 12, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev.
