Ruth E. Cunningham, 89, formerly of 910 Declaration Lane, New Castle, passed away the morning of February 21, 2013 at Golden Hill Nursing Home. Born May 1, 1923, in Indiana, PA, she was a daughter of Arthur and Hazel Peterman Fleming.She was preceded in death by her husband Paul R. Cunningham on May 13, 1990. Ruth was a co-owner of the Shenango Motel in New Castle, and was also a homemaker. She enjoyed country music and line dancing, ceramics and travel. She was a member of Neshannock Presbyterian Church. She is survived by two daughters, Pauline Caplan of South Carolina and Linda (Thomas) Mooney of Columbia, South Carolina; a son, Merle P. (Donna) Cunningham of New Castle; a daughter-in-law, Doreen Cunningham of New Castle; a brother, Wallace Fleming; and a sister Viona Sesti both of Indiana, PA; twelve grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Earl R. Cunningham and two brothers, Leonard and Roy Fleming. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2013, from 2:00-5:00 p.m. and Monday, February 25, 2013, from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home and will be officiated by Rev. Gary Waguespack. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Indiana, PA.
