Ruth V. Eckles, 92, of New Castle, passed away the night of September 16, 2014 at Avalon Nursing Center.Born February 22, 1922 in New Castle, she was a daughter of Oliver and Carrie McCracken Ryhal.Ruth retired from Castle Brand Meats as a packer, and previously had worked in housekeeping with Jameson Memorial Hospital.She was a former member of Croton Methodist Church.She is survived by one son and a daughter-in-law, Richard and Patricia A. Eckles of New Castle; two brothers, Frank Ryhal of New Castle, and Gene Ryhal of Beaver; one sister, Donna Yakubik of Warren, Oh; 2 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.Preceding her in death were her parents; 2 brothers, Dick and Bill Ryhal; and 1 sister, Olive M. Houston.Visitation will be held Saturday, September 20, 2014, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A service will take place immediately following the visitation at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home and will be officiated by Rev. John Yergan.Burial will be in Briar Hill Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
