Ruth Alice Foster, age 78 of Union Twp., passed away the morning of March 23, 2021, at Quality Life Services– New Castle. Born Sept. 10, 1942, in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Jane Bowers. On July 28, 1973, she married her husband of 39 years, Jack F. Foster. He preceded her in death on June 17, 2013. Ruth worked at Bell Telephone and I. Samuels and Sons for 18 years as a secretary. She was a faithful member of New Covenant Evangelical Presbyterian Church where she was affectionately known as the 'greeting card queen'. What gave Ruth the most joy in life, was spending time with her family and the time she spent serving at her church. Mrs. Foster is survived by three daughters, Carla (Jim) McNicholas of Grove City, PA, Vicki (Mickey) Evans of New Castle, PA, Connie (Keith) Horn of Milford, PA; a sister-in-law, Sherry Weamer, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law, Leila (Donald) Kirkwood and Mina (Roger) Baringer, all of North Jackson, OH; six grandchildren, Alex McNicholas and Jim McNicholas both of Grove City, PA, Mickey Evans, Jr., and Cassandra Evans, both of New Castle, PA, Kyle (Olivia) Horn of North Carolina, and Kelly (Josh) Hamer of Germany; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, George Weamer. Public visitation will be held on Sat. March 27th from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. All CDC guidelines will be in place in regard to wearing masks and social distancing. A private service will be held for the family. Burial will be at Oak Park Cemetery, alongside of her husband.
