Obituary

Ruth Gibson, 96, of New Castle, passed away the night of June 1, 2015 at the Jameson Care Center in New Castle. Born April 21, 1919 in Evans City, PA. , she was the daughter of Clarence H. and Bessie Miller Allison. Ruth was preceded in death on February 19, 2000 by her loving husband of 60 years, Audley C. Gibson, whom she married on March 23, 1940. She attended school in Princeton, PA. Ruth was employed by Laurel School District as an employee in the cafeteria. Among her many interests, she enjoyed quilting the most. Ruth made quilts for her children and grandchildren as wedding gifts. She was awarded many winning prizes at the county fair for her beautiful quilts. She was an active member for 76 years of the Oak Grove United Presbyterian Church. Where she was involved in the Rainbow Circle and the choir, which allowed her to sing in many cantatas. Ruth is survived by two daughters, Ruth Ann (Alex) Temenski , and Janice (Ronald) Knass, both of Princeton, PA.;two daughter-in-laws, Mary Ann Gibson of New Castle, and Sherry Miller of Princeton, PA.; 7 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, David C. Gibson, and John C. Gibson; two sisters, Ella Rose Reinhart, and Bevelyn Bushman. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A Funeral Service will take place on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral Home with the Rev. Marsha Parrish officiating. Burial will be at the Mt. Hermon Cemetery. The family would like to express their thanks to the Jameson Care Center Staff, for the many years of special care they showed to Ruth.
