Ruth W. Godwin, age 98, formally of New Wilmington, passed away on June 25, 2022, at Jameson Care Center. Born on December 24, 1923, in Enon Valley, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Shearer) Moore. On July 12, 1947, she married her beloved husband of 62 years, Lawrence C. Godwin. He proceeded her in death on November 7, 2009. Ruth graduated from Enon Valley High School. She went on to be a homemaker who loved quilting, sewing, cross stitching, playing cards, and working puzzles. She was the last surviving member of eleven siblings. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir. What gave Ruth the most joy in life was spending time with her family. Survivors include three daughters, Shirley (Bill) Braatz, of Highland MI, Beverly Jean Lintner, of New Wilmington, PA, and Karen (Dan) Monaco, of Punta Gorda, FL; one daughter- in- law, Denise Godwin, of Beaver Falls, PA; six grandchildren Jesse (Stephanie) Braatz, Nicole (David) Heaberlin, Danny (Sondra) Monaco, Kristin May, Greg (Kristie) Godwin, and Mark (Maegan) Godwin, eighteen great- grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild. In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by one son, Glenn Godwin, and one son- in- law, Ron Lintner. Visitation will be held on Sat., July 9th from 11:00- noon at City Church of New Castle, 11 S. Mill St., New Castle. A memorial service will follow at noon with Rev. David Hammond, officiating.
