Ruth A. "Jake" Hoover, age 71, of Union Township, passed away January 30, 2023, in South Lake Hospital, Clermont, Florida.

Ruth was born on April 28, 1951, in New Castle. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, James Hoover, whom she married December 17, 1966.

She was employed as a teacher's aide at Union Schools until her retirement. Jake was very active in the township with the Union Township Fire Department Auxiliary and as a social member.

Crocheting, reading and car cruises were among her varied interests. She cherished her family the most and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. While brief, Jake enjoyed being in Florida with her husband. She was of Christian faith.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four daughters, Kimberly (Jason) Booher, Beth (Craig) Wethli, Christina Hoover (Damien Jarrett) and Jamie (Joe) Norco, all of New Castle; one sister, Terri Armsey of Ambridge, PA; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Chris Michael.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 4, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA.

A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Charles "Chip" Chamberlain officiating.

Burial will be in Castle View Cemetery.
