Ruth M. Johns, 96, of New Castle passed away October 8, 2017 at her residence. Born December 7, 1920 in New Castle, she was the daughter of George and Rachel Boyd Woods. She married Robert W. Johns on May 5, 1955 whom preceded her in death on February 14, 2010. She was a 1938 graduate of Harlansburg High School. She was a decorator with Shenango China for over 40 years. Ruth enjoyed quilting and sewing. She was a member of Joy Missionary Group, Sparklers and Bible Study at First Baptist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Lee (Joseph) Caravella of New Castle; five grandchildren, Lisa, Kim, and Joey Caravella, Tracy Slater, and Shawn Clark; eight great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son Raymond Clark; three sisters, Blanche Pratt, Thelma Milliken, and Dorothy Marshall. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral service will be on Thursday at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. John Yergan officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Joy Missionary Group care of Unity Baptist Church.
