Ruth M. McKissick, 85, of Jameson Care Center, passed away the morning of February 26, 2012 at Jameson Care Center.Born May 9, 1926 in Shady Grove, PA, she was a daughter of John and Mabel Sheffler Whitlock. She married Harry L. McKissick on May 2, 1942. He preceded her in death September 19, 2005.She was a graduate of Middle River High School in Maryland.Ruth was employed as a sales clerk with the Jody Shop. She also was a desk clerk and part owner of the Jefferson Motor Court.She was a member of the New Castle Country Club, Oak Tree Country Club and Sun and Lakes Country Club in Florida.She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school. She also attended Harmony Baptist Church.Ruth enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing bridge. She most enjoyed time spent with her family and friends.She is survived by a daughter, Frances (Beth) and Glenn Karsnak of New Castle; a daughter-in-law, Sally McKissick of Florida; two sons, Martin and Denise McKissick and David and Ruth Ann McKissick all of New Castle; two brothers, Larry Whitlock of Williamsburg, VA and Donald Whitlock of Tampa, FL; two sisters, Mabel Earle and Betty Earle both of Bel Air, MD; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by one son, Robert McKissick; a granddaughter, Kelly McKissick; and 10 brothers and sisters.Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2012, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 2, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Rob Cummins will officiate.
