Ruth L. Mengel, 71, of Copper Road, New Castle, passed away the afternoon of July 9, 2015 at her residence. Born December 4, 1943 in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of George and Helen Summers Hall. Surviving at home is her husband, Jerry D. Mengel, whom she married on June 20, 1964. Ruth was employed with Aisy Lighting as a sales associate. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker, where she attended a Bible study. Ruth enjoyed gardening and reading, and in her younger years liked horseback riding. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Shawn M. Mengel of New Castle and Abel L. (Tammy) Mengel of Slippery Rock; one brother, George Hall of Cheswick, PA; three sisters, Helen Richardson of Chicora, PA, Mary Hall of Titusville, PA, and Peggy McClure of Boston, MA; and three grandchildren, Cory, Ashley and Lauren Mengel. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sons, Clint Alan Mengel and Shane Michael Mengel. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A Blessing Service will immediately follow visitation at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
