Ruth E. Riggans, 96, of New Castle, passed away suddenly May 28, 2018 at her residence. Born July 22, 1921 in New Castle, she was the daughter of Thomas and Eva Beahm Pitzer. She was preceded in death earlier this year on February 12, 2018 by her husband of 68 years, Leonard Riggans, whom she married November 12, 1949. A homemaker, Ruth often enjoyed gardening and reading. She was a member of Jehovah Witness. She is survived by one niece, Louanna (Gary) Locke of New Castle, and several other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Jessie McNeish, Naomi Pitzer and Dorothy Jean Moore; and four brothers, William, Walter, Robert and John Pitzer. There will be a one hour visitation held on Thursday from 10:00-11:00 a.m.at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral service will be held immediately following at 11:00 a.m. with Karl Lutgens of Jehovahs Witness officiating. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
