Ruth J. Saylor, 88, of New Castle, passed away the evening of January 29, 2017 at Haven Convalescent Home.
Born March 21, 1928 in New Castle, she was the daughter of David L. and Effie Pearl Wysner Bevan.
She was preceded in death on April 4, 2005 by her husband of 57 years, James E. Saylor, whom she married on April 23, 1947.
Ruth attended George Washington Junior High School, followed by New Castle High School. She was a homemaker.
A member of the DSV Club (Division Street Volunteers), Ruth also enjoyed playing Bingo and going to Casinos.
She attended First Church of God of Euclid Avenue.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda Saylor of New Castle; two sons, David (Lynn) Saylor of Troy, Michigan and Russell (Kathleen) Saylor of West Middlesex; 5 grandchildren, Raymond (Cheryl) Saylor, Cara Saylor, James (Amanda) Saylor, Chad (Samantha) Saylor and Mark Saylor; and 4 great-grandchildren, Madison Saylor, James R. Saylor, Rowan Saylor and Conrad Saylor.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Georgia Dute and Iva Shaffer Carbone; and two brothers, David Bevan and James Bevan.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00-8:00 p.m at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A funeral service will take place on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Nero officiating.
Burial will be in Castle View Gardens.
