Ruth V.M. Woodard, 77, of New Castle, passed away the morning of July 24, 2014 at her residence. Born July 23, 1937 in Stockholm, Sweden, she was the daughter of Folke and Ragnheld Bjork. She married Mitchell Woodard and he preceded her in death.Ruth and her husband owned Woodies Country Market in Jonesville, VA and she worked at Photo Quick in Sweden.She was raised Lutheran.Ruth was a photographer, an artist, and she enjoyed gardening and knitting.Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Jon Horrell of New Castle; a son, Michael Woodard of Indian Harbor, FL; and a grandson, Zakary Horrell.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Nels Bjork.Visitation only will be Saturday, July 26, 2014, from 3-5 p.m. at the R.
