Obituary

Ryan Christopher Pontius, 44, of Austin, TX went home to be with his blessed Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 26, 2020. Ryan was born to Rob Pontius and Beverly Crawford-Bellanca on March 27, 1976 in New Castle, PA. He attended Neshannock Elementary School and High School. Upon graduating high school, Ryan was accepted at Westminster College on a golf scholarship where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Ryan played on Westminster's Golf Team for four years. Anyone who knew Ryan knows that golf was his passion. At the young age of 16, Ryan won the New Castle News Golf Tournament. He also enjoyed restoring old golf clubs, Pittsburgh sports, and was an excellent writer. Throughout his life, Ryan held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him. He had a heart of gold. Ryan loved his family. He was quick-witted and people loved being around him. He would want everyone to know that having Jesus in your heart as your Savior is of the utmost importance in life. Ryan joins his grandparents, George & Dorothy Crawford and Bill & Goldie Pontius in Heaven. He is survived by his father and step-mother, Denise (Barkett) Pontius, his mother and step-father, Rev. Vincent Bellanca, as well as his sister, Autumn (Pontius) Sunderlin and her husband, Jonathan Sunderlin, and their two children, Hudson and Malia. Ryan is also survived by his step-daughter, Riley Krajnak, whom he loved dearly. No services are being held at this time. A celebration of life service will be held in early 2021. If you feel so led, in-memoriam donations can be made to Young Life (PA28) at P.O. Box 3029, West Chester, PA 19381 or online at https://giving.younglife.org/rcpontius. Young Life's mission is introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them to grow in their faith. Ryan's sister works for this international organization, and his niece and nephew are active participants in it. Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths." Ryan always said, "Think eternally, not earthly."
