Samuel A. Dematteo, Jr., age 76, of Edinburg, passed away the morning of May 18. 2024, at Addison Healthcare Center.

Born Sept. 18, 1947, in New Castle, PA, he was the son of the late Samuel A. and Virginia (Fricano) Dematteo, Sr.

On June 22, 1968, he married his wife of 55 years, Judith (Cameron) Dematteo. She survives at home.

Sam was an avid hunter, even traveling to Newfoundland to hunt moose. He was a member of SNPJ and the Johnson Club.

Family meant everything to Sam. He had a special bond with his mother-in-law, Kay (Pilshaw) Cameron. Although he did not have grandchildren, he had an extraordinary love for his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. He will be greatly missed by those that loved and knew him.

In addition to his wife, Sam is survived by one daughter, Stacy Dematteo of New Castle, PA; and one sister, Cindi Dematteo Matis, of Hermitage, PA.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Benjamin Dematteo and one sister, Darlene Dematteo.

Private services will be held for the immediate family and a public Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
