Samuel W. Fray, age 74, passed away the morning of February 4, 2019, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Born August 26, 1944 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Samuel W. Fray, Sr. and Louise (Delin) Fray.
Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Susan (Bruner) Fray; their children, Todd Aaron Fray and Shelly Jo (Keith) Lewis; one grandchild, Samantha Jo Lewis and her fianc Jericho Snelbaker; one brother, Dave (Delores) Fray; two sisters, Jeanne (Randy) Watters and Elaine (Rich) Glidden; and several nieces and nephews.
Sam served in the National Guard from 1965-1969. He was employed with Youngstown Sheet and Tube in Campbell for 13 years until their closing and Essroc (formerly Bessemer Cement) for 25 years until his retirement.
Sam enjoyed doing all the planning, shopping and cooking for the meals at home for family. He liked to read and spend time sitting on his front porch after he retired.
He was a member of First Christian Church since 1956 until it closed.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00-1:00 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation at 1:00 at the funeral home with the Rev. John Yergan officiating.
