Samuel C. Friedman, 82, 0f Neshannock Twp., passed away in his home the morning of January 11, 2022, after a long battle with prostate cancer. His loving wife Barbara was at his side. Sam was born on August 19, 1939, in New Castle, to the late Harry and Edna Kass Friedman. He married the former Barbara Gurss on November 17, 1973. She survives. Mr. Friedman was the owner of The Temple Shop, a women's apparel store, during the 1970's and 80's. He then spent 15 years with Jameson Memorial Hospital in their security department. Sam was an accomplished scholar. He attended Ne-Ca High until his family moved to the Palm Springs area. Mr. Friedman graduated from Palm Springs High School and continued his education at UCLA where he graduated their pre-med program. Sam served his country as a member of the National Guard. Mr. Friedman was a former member of the New Castle Rotary Club #89 and various groups within the Temple Hadar Israel Synagogue, and then the Tifereth Israel Synagogue, both of which he was a member. Along with his loving wife, Sam is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Jolene Friedman, and two granddaughters Lilah and Lacey, all residing in Fredrick, MD; He leaves one brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Joel and Carol Friedman, of Palo Alto, CA. He was preceded in passing by his parents. Graveside services, for Sam, will be held on Friday, at Tifereth Cemetery, at 1:00pm. Sam Bernstine will officiate.
