Sara E. Snyder Gerhard, 90, of New Castle, passed away the evening of April 1, 2012 at Jameson Hospital.Born March 20, 1922 in Mosgrove, PA, she was a daughter of Benjamin G. and Mary Irene Croyle Clever.She was married to Woodrow W. Snyder who preceded her in death in December, 1986. She subsequently married Joseph T. Gerhard who preceded her in death on November 30, 1990.She was employed as a custodian with the former Lawrence County Vo-Tech School.Sara loved country music and enjoyed country line dancing at both the Shenango and Scott Township Firehall.She was a member of New Hope Wesleyan Church.She is survived by four daughters, Marlene Smith, Eleanor Womer, Darlene Guthrie and Katherine-Snyder Eddy, all of New Castle; a son, John W. Snyder of New Castle; a step-son, Gerald Isenberg of Sewickley; a brother, John L. Clever of New Wilmington; 26 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Joanne Cercone; five sisters, Louella Wolfe, Grace George, Ruby Campbell, Avenelle Robinson, and Edith Fletcher; two brothers, Fred and Joseph Clever; and a great-granddaughter, Chelsia Elaine Coates.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A service will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Castle View Gardens.
