Sara "Sally" Forkey, 90, of W. North Street, passed away the morning of August 7, 2019 at her residence.
Sally was born on February 23, 1929 in Grant Town, West Virginia. After moving to New Castle she was employed with Johnson Bronze and the Knitting Mill.
An avid bowler, Sally was a junior bowling coach for which she was inducted into the Lawrence County Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame. Both she and her daughter, (Shari) were the first mother and daughter to be inducted.
She is survived by five daughters, Marcy R. Lautz of Garland, TX, Sandra J. Ayersman of New Castle, Verna G. (Ivan) Podgorscak of Mt. Jackson, Karen (Doug) Russell of Wampum, and Shari (Dan) Phillips of New Castle; two sons, Charles E. (Diane) Walker of Oak Hill, FL and Harold R. "Dick" Forkey, Jr. of New Castle; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a great grandson and her former husband, Harold R. Forkey, Sr.
