Sarah D. Dunkle, age 91, of New Castle, PA, passed away the afternoon of May 17, 2024, at Avalon Place.

Born October 4, 1932, in New Castle, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harry W. and Sarah (Rhodes) Kennedy.

On September 26, 1953, Sarah married her beloved husband, William E. Dunkle. He proceeded her in death on April 25, 2020.

Sarah was a graduate of New Castle High School. For 24 years she served as a secretary for Neshannock School District. She was also the Traffic Department Supervisor for 5 years with Bell Telephone.

Sarah enjoyed traveling and camping as well as volunteering at the food bank. She was very involved as a lifetime member in her church, Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church. Sarah had a strong Christian faith and served as the Sunday School superintendent, treasurer of the Missionary Society, Board of Trustees, and Board of Stewards. She also loved to teach during VBS as well as play the piano and sing. But more than anything, Sarah loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include one brother, Charles W. Kennedy of New Castle, PA; one daughter, Sally (Gary) Coates of Greenville, PA; three sons, Edward (June) Dunkle of Plano, TX, Jeffery (Audrey) Dunkle of Columbus, OH and Clayton Groce of Tampa, FL, as well as 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Sarah was proceeded in death by her brother, Harry Kennedy and one son, William W. Dunkle.

Sarah's family would like to extend a special thank you to her church family, Home Instead Senior Care, and Avalon Place Nursing Home.

No services will be held at this time.

Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, alongside her husband.
