Sarah Mae McFarland, 93, formerly of Old Route 19, passed away the morning of November 11, 2015 at Golden Hill Nursing Home. Born December 23, 1921 in Drake, Pa., she was a daughter of Howard and Sara Stewart McKelvey. She was preceded in death on March 2, 1999 by her husband of 57 years, Robert H. McFarland, whom she married March 8, 1941. Sarah was a homemaker and a member of Unity Baptist Church. She is survived by five sisters, Ruth (Roy)Starling of Kinsman, Ohio, Isabelle Ohl of Transfer, Pa., Loise (Jack) Emmett of Greenville, Pa., Susan (Charles) Jobes of Canton, Ohio, and Helen Brall of Hubbard, Ohio; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, George McFarland; five brothers, Buddy, John and Leonard McKelvey and Daniel and Charles Watt; and three sisters, Edith McDevitt, Anna Ausprung and Dorothy Conn. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 14 from 11:00-1:00 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation Saturday at 1:00 at the funeral home with the Rev. Zach Dudenhofer officiating. Burial will be in Unity Baptist Cemetery.
