Sean Glen Dougherty, age 49, of Edinburg PA, passed away the evening of Feb. 3, 2022, at his residence, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born Jan. 20, 1973, in New Castle, he was the son of Donald Gene & Edith Jayne (Dutton) Dougherty. On June 24, 2000, he married his beloved wife of 21 years, Amy (Wagner) Dougherty. She survives at home. Sean was a graduate of Mohawk High School and went on to attend Gannon University. He earned his degree in Culinary Arts, from the Pennsylvania Institute of Culinary Arts. For several years, he worked as a manager at Hoss's Steak & Seahouse, located in New Castle. More recently, Sean was employed by Commonwealth Kitchen Incubator, located in Youngstown, Ohio. Sean enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an active member of Mahoning Valley Sportsman's Club and Bessemer Rod & Gun Club. He loved animals, especially dogs, enjoyed coaching the local youth soccer team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and bowling. Sean was an avid movie buff and could be heard quoting movies, often. Sean had a passion for cooking and was known for his delicious cheesecakes. Above all else, Sean loved and treasured his family and the time he was able to spend with them. In addition to his parents and wife, Sean is survived by his two daughters, Lauren and Brooke Dougherty, both of Edinburg; one brother, Brian D. Dougherty of Rootstown, OH; niece and nephew, Hannah and Zach Dougherty; and several friends, whom he considered family. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his uncle Bob Dutton, and his dog, Sandy. Visitation will be held on Mon. Feb. 7th from 3:00 – 6:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A service will take place immediately following visitation at 6:00 PM.
