Shirley Ann Barr, age 89, of New Castle, passed away the morning of March 5, 2025, at her residence.

Born Oct. 8, 1935, in New Castle, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clair K. and Rachael "Tillie" (Gardner) McConahy.

On Oct. 26, 1956, she married her beloved husband of 63 years, William "Bill" James Barr. He preceded her in death on July 5, 2020.

Shirley was a graduate of Shenango High School. She was a loving homemaker that enjoyed taking care of her family. Shirley treasured the times she was able to spend with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a faithful member of Castlewood Christian & Missionary Alliance Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Deb McCosby and Janet (Doug) Leasure, both of New Castle, PA; son-in-law, Mike (Paula) Williamson of Canfield, OH; one brother, David (Joyce) McConahy of Saxonburg; one sister-in-law, Betty McConahy of TN; six grandchildren, Jake (Erin) McCosby, Rachael McCosby, Dawn (Aaron) Nagel, Adriana (Andrew) Blackburn, Doug (Maria) Leasure, Aimee (Edwin) Castaing; and twelve great-grandchildren, Riley, Piper and Quinn McCosby, William, Adam, Rebecca and Abigail Blackburn, Lily and Reuben Nagel, Javier Castaing, Mira Dougherty, and Julian Leasure.

In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Rupert and Joann Kalajainen, daughter, Jeanne Williamson, son-in-law, David E. McCosby, and brother, Ralph McConahy.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 7th from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle and on Sat. March 8th from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Castlewood Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, 660 Harmony Baptist Road, New Castle.

A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation on Sat., at the church, at 11:00 AM with the Rev. James O'Hara officiating.

Burial will be alongside her husband at Harmony Baptist Cemetery.
