Shirley Bessell Dinsmore, loving daughter of Alvi and Frances (Shoaff) Bessell, passed away November 22, 2023, one month from her 92nd birthday.

A 1950 graduate of Shenango High School, she worked at Pearson Brick where she met a close-knit group of friends that lasted for decades including her close friend Doloras Petrovitch. She also was employed with Lawrence Savings and Trust and was a member of Savannah Methodist Church.

Shirley was preceded in death on January 12, 2010, by her beloved husband of 46 years, John C. Dinsmore. In addition to her husband, she was preceded by her parents; three brothers, Ronald, David and Thomas Bessell; niece Pam (Gettings) DiSanti; and a nephew, Jared Bessell.

She is survived by one daughter, Colleen Dinsmore, who took excellent care of her; one sister, Beverly Gettings; three nieces and three nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.

Everybody should use Shirley as an example of how to live your best life. Shirley was truly beloved by all who knew her.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 2, at 1:00 p.m. at Savannah Methodist Church, 84 Savannah-Gardner Road, New Castle, PA. The Rev. Frederick H. Gilbert will be assisted by Pastor Adam Goswick in officiating the service.

She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Oak Park Cemetery.
